In this course we will focus on being
with others in their grief. When we look deeply inside at ourselves, we
become better able to be present to another who is experiencing pain and
loss. Through meditation, discussion
and experiential activities we will practice "The 5 Stages of
Grief/Dying", clarify the "Three Styles of Helping", refine
listening skills, delve into the fears of the other, create a memorial
service and pray with each other. When we are mindful and compassionate
in our presence towards others who grieve we hold their fears in a sacred
container and walk gently by their side in each precious moment. Tao of Dying I is recommended as a prerequisite to this class, but is not required. It is available on pod cast or MP3.
Rev. Ariel
Sebastian was a 2nd Year
Dean at One Spirit for many years. She is a Registered Drama
Therapist, Liscensed Creative Arts Therapist and Bereavement
Facilitator. She has been in private practice since 1987. It
was her work in the area of End of Life Care and Bereavement that led Ariel
to becoming an Interfaith minister and eventually to The Interfaith
Fellowship where she served as an Associate Minister. She is
also a Chaplain for Disaster Chaplaincy Services. In addition, Ariel
and her dog, Mercy, are Registered Delta Society Pet Partners.
Integrating her love of art, nature and spirit Ariel is a devoted student of
